How to Use Garlic

by Dr. Deva Khalsa on May 31, 2011

One of the oldest and most popular Botanical medicines is the garlic.  It is mentioned in ancient Egyptian medical texts.  Several compounds in garlic have inhibitory effects on the growth of certain cancer cells.  Garlic is one of the most versatile and widely used herbs in the world.  Garlic is best given chopped and in the raw form.  This is because garlic compounds are easily destroyed by cooking and processing. Chop the garlic finely and let it sit in the open air for 10 minutes. This  allows a special chemical reaction to occur.  Allicin and other sulfur compounds in the garlic clove enhance the immune system, block carcinogens, and inhibit the formation of tumors. Garlic is not only good but very needed when one in two dogs get cancer.
