Diabetes Diets  Remember to add DESERVING PETS VITAL VITIES to every meal.

The basic formula:

1/3 lean protein: Cooked or Raw Fish, Chicken, Turkey or very lean Beef, Cooked Egg Whites

1/3 low starch vegetables and some fruits: string beans, broccoli, cauliflower,   blueberries, apples

1/3 slow cooked oatmeal or slow cooked barley

olive oil & cinnamon, garlic, parsley as healing herbs

 

Diabetic Diet #1:

2 cups cooked Chicken

2 cups cooked barley

1 cup cooked in chicken broth diced cauliflower

1 cup of steamed in chicken broth diced apples

1 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon

½ cup of olive oil

 

  1. Cook and dice or shred chicken when cool
  2. Steam diced cauliflower and apples with cinnamon in 2” of chicken broth, do not discard broth when done
  3. Mix chicken and cauliflower in with cooked barley
  4. Pour olive oil over and mix in
  5. Toss, cool and serve

 

Diabetic Diet # 2:

2 cups of cooked lean beef

2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley

2 cups of lightly steamed broccoli

2 cups of cooked barley with ½ teaspoon tumeric

½ cup of olive oil

 

  1. Saute beef cubes in olive oil until done. Add parsley and stir quickly in at end. Remove from hear.
  2. Cook barley and tumeric.  Remove from heat and let cool
  3. Steam broccoli lightly and coat with olive oil
  4. Mix beef, barley, olive oil coated broccoli together and serve

 

Diabetic Diet # 3:

2 cups of cooked tilapia fish

3 cloves of chopped garlic

2 cups of slow cooked oatmeal

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 cup of blueberries

1 cup of cooked string beans, cut into one inch pieces

½ cup of olive oil

  1. Saute tilapia in olive oil until done add chopped garlic at very enc.
  2. Cook oatmeal with cinnamon
  3. Lightly steam stringbeans
  4. Mix all above ingredients, then stir in uncooked blueberries

 

Sidebar: You may wonder why these diets call for lean meats but then olive oil is added.  The answer is that not all fats are alike.  Animal fat, particularly cooked animal fat, is very unhealthy and has been shown to predispose one to diabetes. Olive oil, fish oils and Omega 3 oils, such as those contained in Flax oil, are very healthy and help to prevent and to control diabetes.
